What are the best classical piano books editions ?
beethoven , mozart chopin ….. alfred masterworks shrimmers etc ??? any suggestions ….
This is a case-by-case situation – some publishers hold exclusive rights to a certain composers works, so you get no choice. I know that as a piano judge, I see tons of ROTTEN editions – the Lanner are some of the worst! – that kids bring in. Henle and Barenreiter and old and respected; some other editions are so over-edited, you cannot find the notes, and other are full of *corrections* that just compound errors. Many of us own certain works in multiple editions, too – good to compare.
