Are Getting Better

Playing With Light In Your Home
Even the most luxurious and spaces houses, people often find there are areas that just do not get enough light. In fact, people with larger homes frequently have more of a problem due to having longer deeper rooms and also areas in the middle of the house that are some way from windows. There are some options available to increase the light in your home, including adding widows, knocking through walls and even using putting light tunnels in the chimney. If you have the money and time for these and don’t mind the disruption of the work then great, but for everyone else, here are some options that be implemented with much greater ease.
Mirrors. It is such an easy technique to use and yet lots of people don’t even consider just how good mirrors are at enhancing light. This is because they are very efficient at reflecting light, hence you can see yourself very well in them. Place them in carefully selected locations on walls so they reflect light from the window straight out of the room door. By locating a mirror just outside the door, the light can then be picked up and moved on down the hall or into other rooms or areas of the house.Use this trick wherever you are lacking light to get better distribution and an all over feeling of space.
Glass. If you want to disperse light around a room rather than have it concentrated in one area then use glass. Having wine glasses on tables and even crystal vases on shelves with refract light and send it out at all angles giving an all over glow.If you refract light too much then it loses its power so make sure you don’t go crazy with the glass items.
Combine. You can use a combination of both tricks explained above to squeeze every last drop out of the available light you have. Use mirrors to direct light through glass objects such as glass candle holders and then smaller mirrors to pick up the refracted light and move it on. You’ll be amazed at just how much extra light you can have without even using electricity.
