Band Book

What are the laws about booking a US band in Amsterdam? Do you have to book in person in Amsterdam?
I am trying to book a band I manage in Texas in clubs in Amsterdam and have been told you have to have a rep actually GO to Amsterdam to book the gigs. Is that true?
Most Amsterdam clubs are going to want to book on _their_ contract, ensuring that any breach is going to be handled in Dutch courts, etc. And, as a practical matter, you’ll need some local help to apply and clear Dutch work visas (probably, the club that books you will act as sponsor). So, you generally need a Dutch agent to book initially, but I wouldn’t think you’d need to GO there, straight up.
Tornado Concerts is _the_ American artist live booking agency in Holland. If you haven’t been in touch with them, it would probably pay you to at least talk with them: http://www.tornadoconcerts.com/
