Big Band Sounds
Can someone give me some tips on how i my band can achieve a big sound?
I Use alot of distortion and a 75watt Randall R200 amp with a delay pedal (Boss) and a Digitech pitch shifter how can i achive a better guitar sound? Also the bassist has some solid bass lines and a brilliant 400watt twin cab amp but he plays clean and i am wondering how we could fatten these up.
Any help would be Greatly appreciated???
the trick is not so much in what you play but how..
do you have 2 guitarists?
first, the bassist should be playing with some distortion and with a pick for a fatter bass sound, unless you’re going for the popping flea or 311 or korn type of sound then i recommend he slap more.
as for you, try playing in drop d and using a lot of power chords. You may also want to try changing your strings?
I don’t know what you use now but if you want a fat rhythmic sound, the heavier the gauge the better…but with changing the strings comes careful planning with your tuning.
My bet is that you play in drop d and c tunings more and you’ll be able to achieve a more solid sound…
also try playing behind the beat (drummer) more than in front of it.
