Big Book Book
I wrote a book-a big book-like chapter book and i am only 14 so i have like no clue how to get it published???
i mean it’s a really really good book, like u’d think a adult rote it.
Start with a copy of Writers Market and read it. Then begin your search for agents or publishers seeking work in your genre. Remember that you cannot approach the top ten publishers by yourself. They will just throw your query away. They only deal with agents.
Secondly have your book professionally edited. There has only been one author in the history of publishing who didn’t require editing and that was O Henry. So unless you are putting out work the quality of The Gift of the Magi (and none of us are!) you NEED an editor. Even authors like Stephen King depend on editors. An editor should cost you between 5 and 10 dollars per page based on 250 words per page. It is a very necessary step in the process.
Also – because of your age, your parents must be a part of any negotiations you enter into. You are a minor. So it is best for you to get them involved advocating for you right up front. They will have to sign contracts for you and work with a lawyer to set up royalty arrangements assuming the book sells.
