Brass Christmas Carols

Rough Guide to Christmas shopping in Warwick
With Christmas fast approaching and the nights getting shorter the people of Warwick will be turning their thoughts to Christmas shopping in Warwick. Unlike some of the larger towns and cities, Christmas shopping in Warwick is a very memorable experience with a more friendly, community-oriented feel to it and has something for all ages. Set amongst historic buildings and a number of attractions such as Warwick Castle and the racecourse, there are a wide variety of independent retailers that help to give Warwick its charm and character.
The place to go if you want stress-free Christmas shopping in Warwick is Smith Street. Located between the Castle and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum at St. Johns, it is the oldest shopping street in Warwick and runs right up to the grand Old Eastgate at the top.
The heart of the town centre is the Market Place which, with a selection of shops and pubs dotted around it, is the ideal place to have a quick pit-stop and recharge your batteries before heading back out for more Christmas shopping. Market Place is also the location for the monthly farmers market which will take place on Friday 19th November and Friday 17th December from 9am-2pm. This would be an ideal place to bag some great fresh produce for the festive period and Christmas dinner.
If you are planning your Christmas shopping in Warwick, then why not enhance your experience by coinciding it with Warwick’s celebrated Christmas Victorian Evening which takes place this year on Thursday 26th November. Centred around the Market Place where BBC Coventry and Warwickshire will be providing a full programme of on-stage entertainment, the town will also host numerous attractions such as a traditional carousel, a horse and carriage, craft demonstrations, birds of prey, ferret racing, traction engines and children’s rides. Shopkeepers and stallholders will be in traditional period dress and visitors can enter the best costume competition which is judged on stage at 7.30pm. During the evening the Grotto of Giving will open where people are encouraged to give gifts that will benefit those less fortunate and there will also be a number of Ghost Tours down Smith Street.
Of Course Christmas shopping in Warwick would not be the same without the annual Christmas lights switch-on which will also coincide with the Victorian evening on 26th November. The lights will be switched on by Santa Claus and the Mayor of Warwick in the Market Place at 7pm. Alternatively, if carols are more your thing to get you into the festive mood, you could plan your Christmas shopping trip around the Carols at Warwick Castle which will be happening on Saturday 18th December. Here, in the spectacular surroundings of the castle play host to the Choirs of St Mary’s church in Warwick and the Royal Spa Brass Band in Leamington who entertain visitors, bringing a touch of magical Christmas spirit.
If you want to beat the last minute rush for Christmas shopping in and around Warwick, or you’re not a fan of shopping at the weekend then you will need to be aware of Christmas shopping opening hours in the run up to Christmas. Store Christmas opening hours in Warwick are as follows:
Thursday 25th November – Most Stores open until 9pm
