Clarinet Oboe
What is a Grade 6 (in a musical instrument ie clarinet, oboe, flute) equivalent to in GCSE/Uni preferences?
what do you get out of doing grade 6 please?
If you were to play a grade 6 piece for your GCSE solo piece it would be classed as a difficult piece and you would probably get full marks for it, but in University they ask for grade 8 as a minimum just to get into Uni. I find that doing the graded exam (I play flute and will be doing grade 6 in the summer on ABRSM board) it helps me to know what areas of my playing need improving,it gives me a confidence boost when I get a good result (I got distinction 134 marks for my grade 5) and it gives me something to work towards.
