Easy Piano Songbook
to take piano lessons or to keep doing what i’m doing?
Hi! Okay, so I used to take piano lessons a couple of years ago and have quit. I only got up to the level where I could play a simple star splangled-banner (using both hands). OR Level 2, I guess. I got to skip the kinder/pre part if that matters…
A couple of weeks ago, i’ve felt interest again, but when I looked at the songbook, I had no idea what keys the notes were, etc. on my keyboard I’d just “Demo” some pieces and memorize the keys that were lighting up & from doing that I could play pieces such as the turkish march, wedding march, chopsticks, etc. all from memory (using both hands of course).
BUT from playing by memory, i feel so limited, yet for me, it’s actually much easier cause the keys looks like one big picture to me.
sooo, is it best to take piano lessons so i wouldn’t feel “limited” or keep on memorizing keys just because?
Help me please, & sorry if I confused anyone. Thanks a lot!
It’s best to understand what you’re playing on the piano instead of watching the keyboard do it for you and then memorizing it, that’s great that you can do it, but there are important things that you need to know when you play such as rhythm, emotion, dynamics, etc. that only a piano teacher could help you out with.

Night and Day: The Cole Porter Songbook $7.50 Cole Porter’s songs have a unique charm. Whether conveying the bantering, urbane wit of “I Get a Kick out of You” or the affecting depths of sentiment in “Every Time We Say Goodbye,” his lyrics are matched to his melodies with a conversational ease. No matter how hard Porter might have worked at those effects, his efforts are invisible. That seeming nonchalance is conveyed magnificently here by a … |
