Help! Beginner Guitar Scales Chords and Keys?

I recently picked up the guitar and got a few books to follow. One of them is Hal Leonards and its easy enough to follow. The other is Uncle Tom’s, which runs through scales, chords and keys and a circle of fifths. For whatever reason I’m not grasping what a key is, what a chord is and what a scale is, and how they all tie in together. I do understand the movement on te fret board, E -> F -> F# etc. but I cant make sense of it when explained in terms of scales chords and keys. Anyone have some advice or an answer?

I’ve started about a year ago and i didn’t follow any books which is honestly what i would reccommend. Learn some minor scales, maybe some blues scales and your on your way man. The most simple blues scale goes
