if i had a musiic sheet for piano but i have a french horn, what note would i play instead?
so say if the piano note was c what would i play on the french horn?
OR SOME ONE FIND ME A FRENCH HORN PIECE FOR “Here comes the bride” I CANT FIND ONE. one more thing please dont get all smart on me i cant under stand some answers that others have said in the past.
uh, i think that first answer is backwards….
when a french horn plays what it calls a C, it sounds like a piano’s F. so you need to write all the pitches a fifth higher than the piano (or a fourth lower will work if it goes out of your range). you also need to change the key signature to match. (remove one flat or add one sharp).
so if you want to play the piano’s C, you need to play the french horn’s G.
but you only need to do that if you are playing with a group of other instruments that don’t transpose.
if you are playing alone you can just play it as it is and it will sound fine. just in a different key.
that piece is originally for orchestra anyway, so there’s no guarantee your piano arrangement is in the right key to begin with.
if you plan to play it with piano, you just need to find it in a key a 5th higher. this website has links to several versions arranged for different instruments, and many will be in different keys, so maybe you will just happen to find the right one. also, the scorch files offered there are made with software that sometimes lets you transpose the music right on the website. you will have to download a plugin for those files though. http://www.8notes.com/wagner.asp
if you dont understand about the keys, tell us how many sharps or flats are in the key signature of piano version you have. then we can give you an easier answer.
(if you dont know what “a 5th higher” is… it means it will look like 4 notes higher, because when you count intervals you call the note you start on “1″)
