One Woman’s Horse Photo Story
There are horse lovers who won’t believe anything other than that their horse is the best in the world, according to a lady artist from Walla Walla. The owner disregards the champion status of his horse. A ranch on Springdale Road is home to an artist who has benefitted financially from this rider horse love. She enjoys her work so much that the business side does not interfere with her happiness. Horses have been a favorite subject of hers since she became a teen. She began by sketching horses, which she started at age 11. These experiences gave her a knack for shading that gives all her horse portraits depth. She fills her canvas with the unique personality of each horse.
A commissioned paintings begins with a photograph. She never sketches on scene, unless one counts notes and marks about color and other things. There are clients, according to her, who ask for continuous adjustments. Clients ask the artist to highlight a certain angle or a characteristic.
Their horses mean everything to some owners, and they memorize everything about them, from facial expressions and wrinkles to cowlicks.
