Jazz Collection
Looking for a good second hand vinyl shop to sell my collection of rare LPs to. Any suggestions?

I have a collection of a little over 300 vinyl records (LPs) containing rock, jazz, blues, alternative, punk, new wave, pop, etc. as well classical records (several of them rare editions, made in Russia during the Soviet era) kept in very good condition. Any ideas who would buy this as a collection for its actual worth (or a reasonable price for its worth) so that I do not have to sell them once by one? Thanks in advance!

This is the thing about selling your collection wholesale to record shops – they’re always only ever going to give you the bare minimum, a fraction of what they’re worth. They’re in the business of making money too and will pay you the least you possibly can. I wouldn’t advise it unless you’re just looking to get rid of them as a last resort.

Have a look in local newspapers or online for record fairs. Most larger towns and cities host them regularly. You pay the organiser a nominal fee for a stand and you can deal with large amounts of record collectors face to face, for a good price.

I’ve found this book invaluable for pricing rare records in the past.

You might also want to try this website for selling parts of your collection if the other idea doesn’t strike you. You can see what the going rate is per record and name your price.

Good luck.
