Why are independent stores/designers so expensive?
Why are independent stores/designers so expensive?
I’ve been wondering this for a little bit. I have some [weak] explanations, but I’d like to know yours!
The more detailed, the better. :]
[btw: I'm posting this in different categories to get answers from different people.]
EDIT: Please note the term “independent”. I’m not talking about big names (e.g. Coach). I’m referring to, in comparison, very small designers.
they don’t have a lot of clothes to sell, so they have to make prices higher.
like with walmart, they have SO much merchandise in SO many stores, they can afford to make their prices so low. it’s not always the quality of their stuff.
but again, with a small boutique they don’t have like a huge chain of stores with a ton of stuff to sell like walmart. so they have to sell their stuff at higher prices in order to get the same amount, relatively, of profit.
that’s what my uncle told me. 
i asked him the same question haha.
