If a lot of chicken eggs are mixed together, can a hen identify her own>?
what if a lot of newborn chicks are mixed togetehr, can a hen identyfy which ones are hers
No a hen is not that gifted,she will incubate & give all of the chicks
the care & protection she can possibly give ,as the mother hen she senses she is in charge & the chicks instinctively know what is good for them ,they follow her around & learn the first steps in a chickens day to day routine.No favourites with her,she believes in equality !
I am sure you know that a chicken will incubate eggs of other poultry species as well,i have had hens incubate ducks,guinea fowl & turkey eggs ,right now one of my hens is incubating three goose eggs.
