Why did Gandhiji go for fast unto death for Pakistan’s assets in 1947 & why did Godse Kill him in jingoism ?
After freedom the amatter of asset division came. Pakistan’s part was Rs 75 crore, out of which 20 crore was to be paid in one month & rest in instalments. When the draft of Rs20 crore couldn’t reach Karachi despite order of RBI, there was nothing to pay even for salaries of govt employees, Jinnah contacted 3 persons of Karachi & told the situation, they arranged Rs 70 crores within 3 days, some rulers of ‘states’ too have helped. Somehow Gandhiji came to know that Pakistan wouldn’t care that money any further & may kick by shoe’s tip, he suddenly became very honest & principled to take the credit went for fast unto death for payment of Pak’s assets. By ignorance & immaturity, poor Nathuram Godse assumed Gandhiji to be a great friend of Pakistan & killed him in Jan,1948 & some of his supporters still worship him(in RSS closed chambers his portrait is worshipped). A book “Jinnah, A Political Study” by Prof Matloobul Hasan has the asset story. Why are people not told full story ?
