My Alto Saxophone doesnt work?
I have an Alto Sax. I used to play with a normal rico reed. Then I tried out a La Vaz reed. It was easier to play but my sax was way out of tune, no matter what I did. Hight notes went sharp, low notes went flat. Then I tried royal, and it was in tune, but harder to blow. So my question is, should I get a better reed like a grand concert? Will the grand concert reed be any good? Or any other tips?

Hi. I’m a clarinetist, but I’m going to tell you about what I know and see if it helps.
My guess is that the numbers of the reeds (the difficulty or hardness number) are different. Even if the numbers on them are the “same” there is a good chance that the companies use different techniques for forming and scraping their reeds.
If you are having a difficult time playing with the Royal then I wouldn’t try a more expensive one yet. Build up your embouchure through some more practice. The more expensive reeds will sound better, but not until you have built up the muscles in your mouth and your lungs.
