Squeaking on alto sax?
I’ve been playing alto for 4 years now, and my setup is as follows:
King 665 Alto Sax
Rovner Dark Ligature
Vandoren Java 2 Reeds
Vandoren V16 Mpc.
I’m squeaking, and it sounds like a shoe scuffing on a gym floor. Can anybody help me?
Have someone else play your horn.
If they can’t play it either, it might be an equipment issue, a pad not closing… something like that
If they can play without it squeaking, then it’s something wrong with you… your embouchure might need adjusting or you might be bumping keys when you hold the instrument. The internet can’t answer these questions, so the solution is to find a good teacher in the area. Check with a nearby college, university students usually give lessons pretty cheap.
