Honda’s U.S Production Not Significantly Affected By The Tsunami Crisis

After the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, auto manufacturers are attempting to reopen their plants; an act which may prove diffuclt due to the destroyed roads and ports which hinder shipping.   Big companies like Toyota, Nissan and Mazda are still closed and this might have an affect on the automotive industry world wide. It’s not only Japanese car makers that are impacted, American companies who purchase parts from Japan will be affected as well.  Most auto makers count on a tight supply chain and as a result a major inventory disruption will be noticeable after around one and a half months.  Japanese auto might not have the funds available for special deals and incentives.

Sales in the U.S will not be affected as much for Honda since eighty percent of its vehicles are produced in America. As of March 20 2011, Honda’s plants in Japan are still shutdown. The autos most affected by the shutdown are the Acura TSX, RL and the Honda Fit. The Fit and the Insight are currently very much in demand with shoppers due to the high price of gasoline.

Mileage stands at 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the freeway.   If you are in the Los Angeles area, check out Galpin Honda for great deals on the Fit and more.

As mentioned earlier, the production of the Insight could also be affected because of the crisis. The 2011 Insight is an affordable hybrid that offers a high level of performance for its class. Most hybrids aren’t exactly engaging or fun to drive but the Insight offers a ride that is zippy and fun while mileage is at 40 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the freeway.    Ecco Assist is available; this function lets you know if you’re driving efficiently and encourages you to drive in a manner which conserves fuel. The Insight is affordably priced at around eighteen thousand dollars.

Honda has donated around $3.75 million dollars towards the relief efforts in addition to one thousand electric generators and five thousand gas canisters.  View our Honda San Fernando Valley selection here.
