Satb Saxophone Quartet
How do i TRANSPOSE my music score for Saxophone quartet??
i was told that saxophone players can’t play normal scored music because it needs to be transposed but i dont know how many intervals it needs to be changed to.
i have composed a piece of music for four saxophones (SATB) my music is in Bb major..
..so how do i write the score so that the saxophone players can read and play it back with ease?
For soprano transpose key and notes up one whole step – the key signature will be C major.
For alto the key will be G major and the notes should be transposed up a major sixth (9 half steps) – so a middle C on the piano will be a written A (2nd space treble clef) on the alto part.
For tenor the key will be C major and the notes will be transposed up an octave plus 1 whole step. Thus middle C piano would be 4th line D in the treble clef.
Bari sax key – G major. Transposed up octave plus a sixth. A piano second space C in the bass clef would transpose to a second space A in the treble clef.
A.
