Saxophone Reeds
what is the best way to DRY AND STORE saxophone reeds?

answers would be appreciated from college/professional saxophone players.
i soak my reeds a lot and i need a detailed method of thoroughly drying them. i’ve heard of “sealing” the reeds, but i’m not exactly sure what this is.
i also have friends who store their reeds on plexiglass, does this help keep them from molding?
should i dry the reeds first with something and then leave them out to air-dry for a few hours?
what is the best fabric to dry them with?

You want a place that stores them flat and allows air circulation. You don’t necessarily need to dry them off after playing – only if the reed container doesn’t allow air flow.
The best cases I’ve found that come with reeds are ones from Rico – they have pressure on the reed while allowing air circulation – just make sure to store them out of the reed box and just in the container it came in.

You want a case that doesn’t allow the reed tip to be exposed as well.

Here’s a link below to some good reed cases – the only one I don’t recommend is the “reedguard.” It doesn’t allow good air flow to the tip of the reed.
