Can the music program FInale write sheet music from a regular soundtrack?
I have Finale and I wanted to know if it can write sheet music from music files I already have on my computer. For example if i have a song in my Itunes can i somehow play it and Finale will produce sheet music. And if it can do this then how?
I don’t know for sure, but I doubt it. If you take (for example) a track from a CD (as MP3), there’s so much information going on (almost infinate frequencies; fundamentals and harmonics). It would be almost impossible (especially so at user-level finance) to have a package that could analyse songs, extract certain instruments (that’s difficult as it is) and THEN convert to a digital (non-audio) score. I know there’s software that converts audio (MP3, Wave etc) to MIDI, but i’d imagine you’d need to feed in a very clear, very simple (possibly monophonic) waveform – such as a flute solo.
If you’ve got a midi file of a particular song, I’m sure Finale would convert that. As it’s not an audio format, notes are stored as tangible data and can be easily ‘converted’ to Finale format.
