Which Guitar Hero Game is Best for Beginners?
This has always been a tough decision to have to make ever since the likes of Rock Band game Guitar Hero World Tour came along, which music game is right for you? This decision is becoming ever more harder because both game developers are releasing more and more games, so this post should help you decide which game is right for you.
Guitar Hero 2 is where I’ll begin because this is the first game to be released onto the next generation gaming consoles. This game may be very good, however, it only has a guitar career so I personally wouldn’t recommend it to beginners. I would recommend it if you love playing classic songs.
Guitar Hero 3 is available on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and this is the next one on the list. Guitar Hero 3 is similar to Guitar Hero 2, very good, but the guitar is the only playable instrument. However, this game comes with the best set list so it really is a must have for any guitar hero fan.
The next couple are both band based games, Guitar Hero Aerosmith and Guitar Hero Metallica. Due to what I just said, these games are not great for beginners because you don’t get a wide array of songs. Unless you are a Guitar Hero fan or a fan of the particular band, I wouldn’t recommend them.
Guitar Hero World Tour is a very popular one currently because it is the first Guitar Hero to contain all instruments, the mic, drums, bass and guitar. However, I don’t think that it comes with a good set list. It’s full of very old and cheesy songs, although, it is a fun one for the whole family to play.
Now this one is the most recently released game, Guitar Hero Greatest Hits. I do think that this game has to be the best for a beginner player of the entire family. I think this because the set list contains the best songs from Guitar Hero 1, 2, 3, 80’s and Aerosmith. This means that you get the best set list from all those games, plus the ability to play through the songs using any of the available instruments.
Now onto the competitor, Rock Band. The first game, Rock Band 1, was extremely good because it had a great set list as well as the addition of the full range of instruments. The guitars that came with the game were pretty rubbish, but the game itself was very good. However, with the release of Rock Band 2, this is a much better game simply because it comes with an improved set list as well as some even better new features. Also, once you have Rock Band 2, you can buy Rock Band 1 and put all those tracks onto the Rock Band 2 game.
The only downside to Rock Band 2 is that in Europe you can’t get the improved instruments yet. However, these new instruments are being released with The Beatles: Rock Band later this year.
That’s not all, Rock Band also features a massive downloadable music library. They have hundreds and hundreds of songs that you can download to expand your song list, plus they are all compatible with all the Rock Band games meaning you can play them on any of the games.
However, is Rock Band an ideal game for beginners? I would say that it’s not, however, Rock Band is the best game for an experienced music game player because it has the biggest and most expandable song list.
Aslong as you get all the instruments for the game, I would say that Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is the best music based game for beginners.
