A Preface To Duet Singing Lessons
When we talk about duet singing the first thing come into our mind is to find a partner that has a singing voice that matches well with yours. Good chemistry between both of you will help you both during duet singing lessons. While singing to each other your eyes should meet, and it should show feelings between you both. You will need a lot of practice to perfect this acting part. That kind of practice usually been follow between two opposite sex partners; and while singing a love song. If it is not a love song, and sung between two of the same sex, there needs to be a presence about each of you, which reveals feelings such as humor, or friendship, or even a bit of the comic showing though. In singing as a duet, there are things that you should do and should not do. And these are explained in detail below.
Steps you should follow:
1. It is important to know that not all duets are sung by two people of opposite sex, or that every duet song is a love song. Some duets may be serious or some may be humors. Make sure each partner have solo parts. Both of the partners should sing at the same note and should stay consistent during duet singing lessons.
2. Be very attentive when your partner is singing so that you don’t make any miscalculations in joining in. If you are not doing karaoke, and you do know the lyrics, you can lip-sync lyrics while not singing to make sure you can prompt your partner if he seems to forget the words or for you to keep track of when to join in.
3. Giving cues to your partners with nods, glances or even hand gestures are all acceptable practices for a duet.
Tips to remember during duet singing lessons:
1. Find the singer who is at the same level as you and have a voice that perfectly blends with yours.
2. Partner not necessarily is an opposite sex. Opposite sex partner is better usually while singing love songs.
3. Never forget to hug your partner or to give a pat on the shoulders of your partner after the performance.
4. You are recommended to find a style that is all your own and not to be a copycat of anybody.
5. Be sure to have an eye contact with your partner while performing a romantic song.
6. Take note that you are relaxed during every performance. It will show if you and you partner are comfortable.
What not to do during duet singing lessons:
1. Never select a song that is not within easy reach of both your voice range. If you choose a difficult song, it would soon turn awkward for both of you.
2. If you are singing in a lower pitch that your partner be careful that you do not sing notes higher than his. This is the basic rule of music you should follow.
3. The usual downward ending that we hear is not always the best ending.
4. Never try to upstage or out sing your partner if it is not called for by the song number. This rule depends on song to song. Just be mindful always.
