South Goa is more secluded and tranquil with a few famous beaches like Palolem, Agonda and Colva.
North Goa is the place to be if one is looking for late night parties and fun filled DJ sessions on the beachside. Many beaches have shacks which organize these beach parties. North Goa is a more tourist oriented place. Calangute is an excellent place to pursue some water-sport activities as the waves here are a delight for experienced swimmers. Although North Goa is the place which is more populated and has a higher density of tourists, one could also think of visiting South Goa for a more peaceful experience. The beaches there lack the basic infrastructure and are very secluded and unpolluted. They manage to create an excellent serene experience for the traveller looking for some quiet and peace away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Agonda beach, in particular, is famous for silent DJ parties where people dance to music of various genres played on headphones by versatile DJs.
