Soprano Clarinet
Should I learn soprano saxophone or Eb clarinet?
I’ve played clarinet for five years now (three years of that being middle school band where I didn’t really learn much, haha). I’m not amazing at clarinet, but it’s because I absolutely despise the instrument. The only reason I started playing was because my cousin offered it to me for free. Anyways, I bought a trumpet not too long ago, and I’ve been playing it for about a month. I’m still at a pretty basic level, but I can solidly get the notes out. I want to try something new and not very common (in my high school at least), so I don’t have to be stuck playing the clarinet anymore. I also want to join the jazz band, so do you think it would be too hard to learn the soprano saxophone? Should I just stick with trumpet? Or should I stay with the clarinets and just switch to the Eb clarinet?
Well, if you want to play the soprano saxophone, you should learn to play the alto saxophone first. And besides, if you hate the clarinet, why would you take the time to play an instrument you already hate? I think you should still practice with the trumpet AND the clarinet. If you want to see an amazing young musician, look up Immanual Wilkins. He goes to my school and he is awesome. Look him up just for inspiration. But, you should do what feels the best for you.
