Suzuki Cello School

Suzuki cello. I feel like I’m not good enough at cello?

I’ve been playing since I was 9. I quit private lessons because my teacher was moving along too slowley. I’m 13 and halfway through suzuki book 3. My cello teacher made us do all the little specifics like the bow hold, sitting up and everything and my form is a lot better than the other cellos in my orchestra but I’m 2nd chair. The girl whose 1st chair has been playing for 3 years and can play much more difficult songs than me. I really want to get up to her level and possibly become 1st chair eventually. any tips?

P.s I’m taking school lessons and I’m gonna start up private lessons soon too.

You. Must. Start. Lessons. Now.
Like, NOW.
Having a private teacher makes an astronomical difference on your playing skills. And also, most musicians typically start at an age younger that nine….so that might make a difference. And Suzuki users typically quit after about the 4th or 5th book, you can usually move on to more difficult repretiore after that.
