Vocal Guitar
What is it called when you play the vocal riffs on the guitar?

when i searched up _____ cover only vocal covers come up like they sing it.

I don’t thing anyone understands your question. You play riffs on a guitar. Those are short, often rhythmic phrase or sequence of notes played on a guitar and referred to by guitar player’s as riffs. The term riffs use in conjunction withe vocals does not make a lot of sense. You hum or sing a riff but, it’s really a guitar term not a vocal term. The only thing I can think of that might be trying to search for that some guitar players using a device called a vocoder, can sing into the vocoder with the guitar also plugged into it and the vocal sound is blended with the sound of the guitar and it sort of sounds like the guitar is singing. That is a technique that Peter Frampton made popular.
