what’s the difference between a symphonic band & a wind ensemble?
A wind ensemble will have one person to a part, and the symphonic band will be multiple players on parts,ie. 4 1st trumpets, 4 2nd trumpets and so on. The player in a wind ensemble is very exposed and cannot hide in the section when mistakes are made. If 1st trumpet in wind ensemble misses the high C the conductor will know immediately who hit the clam.
